Parts of the Self

Nahua Polytheism subscribes to the idea of a dualistic soul, this is, the believe that people have two or more souls, this idea was prevalent amon pre-Christian cultures, as may be seen on the Platonic believe of three different “souls” (Reason, Emotion and Desire) or the five division conceived among the Egyptians, and can be still find among the Inuit, Chinese and Finno-Ugric groups.

In the case of Nahua Polyhtheism the multiple souls are: the Tonalli the Teyolia and the Ihiyotl.
